RE-phrase launches app for ALS patients

Posted: May 28, 2011 in ICT

This App supports multiple-choice conversations for people who cannot speak anymore, particularly ALS patients. Chat-by-click makes it possible to speak about personal care and emotions, arrange to do something, and explain to outsiders what ALS is.

The sentences are shown and pronounced. You can choose the voice yourself. Eventually, the desktop can be rotated for the conversation partner. The user still has to be able to tap on the iPad, but in combination with the use of the scan mode a single specially adapted switch is sufficient to control the conversation. We are currently working on a direct connection to brain activity for control.

Several topics are supported now. We foresee patients, family and caretakers to contribute to the content of the conversations. We welcome you to translate the App to make it usable for a broader public.

RE-phrase creates technology to make communication possible. Do you want to publish your own dialogues, or do you have other questions: please contact us by e-mailing to app-info@re-phrase.com.

The scan mode is a new possibility of the RE-phrase chat-by-click technology.
